Update !

Baaaaaack in business! Okay, so maybe one month after five months "blogging hiatus" doesn't really count as back in business but I really have no plans to desert this blog. So perhaps I can do a little better than bi-annual posts.

I thought an appropriate "back in business" post would be an update on our little life with Wayne. That is probably the #1 question people think to ask me - how is Wayne? - and that's a very thoughtful question and my answer is usually sorta something like "fine?" Ha! His transition to our family has been so seamless that it's hard to imagine him not feeling fine. But I do think that has a lot to do with his even temperament and not really anything to do with us at all! ha!

It has taken some adjusting on our behalf. We've squished the three boys together into one room, which is not an easy feat since it's not a big room to start with! The "babies" (which is shorthand for- Wayne and Parker) are each in cribs and Jay is cozied up in his toddler bed (which he shows no signs of outgrowing...I seriously hope he outgrows it by the time he's headed off to kindergarten but who knows?! ha!).

It's taken some adjustment from the girls in being willing to step up and help! They are such cheerful helpers. They are quick to drop what they're doing to run to Mama's aid when I need help. (This is usually when I am in a very compromising position struggling to change a poopy diaper and running out of wipes - "Kelsey, wipes!!!!), or chasing a boy around the house who is chasing another boy around the house with a light saber - "Calla, corner him!!" etc. etc.)

Jaybird has need to adjust to having another brother who takes his toys and stands in his way and breaks his things. Poor Bird! He is doing well. He is always kind to Wayne and Parker. He is a little passive aggressive in his comments, however. He doesn't hide his favoritism towards Parker! For instance, he makes a big deal about Parker being "faster" than Wayne and if they're all playing together he is often in alliance with Parker. I think he is still getting used to his second little bro!

I feel like we spent so much time in Uganda that Parker and Wayne haven't really needed any adjustment to each other since they were so used to each other by the time we came over here. They both ask about each other first as soon as they wake up. They are all confused if they are ever separated (I took Parker on an errand the other day when Wayne was still asleep and he spent the entire car ride looking over at Wayne's empty seat and saying 'Wayne? Wayne?'). It is really cute to watch their bond.

Wrapping up, here are some pics I took last month.

below: valentine's Day dinner, family-style...

 below: suspenders!
below: Wayne's first snow! He lasted 5-10 minutes.

below: Wayne has jumped right onto the Chick-fil-A bandwagon. He loves himself some crispy nuggets and fries!
below: Kelsey got to sell Girl Scout cookies at the local grocery store. (Calla did too.) Definitely highlight of her month!
below: Hanging with Opa at Aunt Courtney's gender reveal party! We wore blue because we guessed she was having a boy and we were right! (50/50 chance, right?!)
below: We've been to the sports center pool a couple times and Wayne is a huge fan! I thought he'd give me a hard time about the swimmies but all three boys seem very matter-of-fact of them!
below: Wayne's first time at our favorite ice cream spot in Wheaton called Kimmer's! Wayne and Jay like chocolate best (-:  (Parker only eats mint ice cream. He is an odd child.)
 below: twinsies!
below: a random mild day in February! Daddy took the boys to the park. Wayne loves first-world parks.
below: We log a lot of time each month waiting for Kelsey to get out of kindergarten at school! Here is Jay flagging her down!
below; Wayne's first injury! He ran right into the cabinet! Ouch!
 below: matching bros.

below: Calla and her best friend in second grade, Annie
below: Kelsey and her best friends in kindergarten, Kenzie and Hannah

below: The girls before their school music program in February. They both sang beautifully!
below: hanging out. Waiting around while sisssy is at the dentist for a cleaning.
below: Ha! I love this pic! Parker has a way higher tolerance for the cold than Wayne! (Or than Jay for that matter...)
below: we closed February up with a weekend of potty training. We decided we would pick this back up after spring break!
