August is Over

TODAY definitely felt like August...haha I think I started yesterday's post with that sentence. But it still did!! I even debated returning to the splash park, but I think once in one week is enough!

This morning we went to the sports center. Kelsey did fabulous they said - I'm so glad she seems to be turning a corner there. Poor Calla was seated at the craft table with a blue plastic apron on and an entire craft laid out when I arrived. They said they had just sat her down to get started on it! She was so disappointed! They put it in a plastic bag for her to take home and finish. By the time we got home, she had forgotten about it so I put it away for a rainy day. (-:

We kept Kelsey from falling asleep by heading to the park. We met up with Jenny, Norah and Erik and it was HOT. Waaay too hot to go to a park! Jenny had picked a shaded one, but we were sweaty and gross after an hour and a half. I brought lots of snacks and the kids just kept eating and guzzling water.

Norah is "playing soccer" this fall (I use the phrase loosely), and had her complete soccer uniform on....shinguards and cleats (sp?) and everything. She was literally ready for practice 9 hours early according to Jenny haha. Norah couldn't wait to kick her soccer ball around with Calla...except she kicked it to Calla and Calla picked it up and threw it. Oops. Daddy needs to whip that girl into shape!

But the kids did a lot of running around, and Kelsey fell asleep on our way home. All this summer fun in the sun is exhausting! (-:

The girls and I stayed at home all afternoon. Kelsey and I played in the toyroom and did some housework while Calla took a long nap. And then I fed them an early supper (early would be an understatement - it was 4:30!) and took them to the pool. We were ready to cool off!

below: some pics of Kelsey waking Calla up from her nap....I love Kelsey's expression

Silly

Hugs! Kelsey loves to hug Calla

Okay, moving on to the pool. I took countless photos. The sand can get a little dull so I got carried away.

Hard at work.

Haha she was laughing out loud.

Meanwhile, big Sissy was making friends.

Kelsey's #1 priority at the sand area: washing sand off the toys. Thank you

Staring is another activity high on her list.

Another activity? Keeping track of Calla

Kelsey likes to check in on her occasionally.

Too busy for little sis

Whoa! Get those cleaned, girl!

A big girl tried taking the blue pitcher from Kelsey a minute after I snapped this photo and Kelsey let out a huge squawk. Needless to say, it scared the big girl away!

Every so often, Kelsey stops playing and comes and checks on Mommy. Sweetie

.....But not for long........

In her defense, Kelsey's swimsuit is size 12 months. Things are getting a bit tight in the hips.

We also make sure to stay hydrated. Kelsey climbs on this and then yells for me to help.

Back to work.

Throwing sand. Bad etiquette for sure.

Throw that stuff!

Somebody's got to!

A busy girl digging

Just a smidge too tight. The leopard print hides it well though

Stealing mommy's water

Thirsty

Strawberries for snack.

What Calla did when I said, "Say cheese."

She totally thought a pic with mommy's flip-flops was a good idea....

Swimsuit model

Running away from her mother.

Daddy's here! Looks like Calla took this one. Daddy met us here after work.

Unfortunately, Kelsey was tired by this point so he arrived in time to play with the girls for fifteen minutes, put Kels in her pajamas, and take her home to bed!

Smiley and Sleepy

Take 3

Daddy and his pool girls

or beach babes

The girls see mommy walking back from the bathroom

There she is! Exhibit A: Kelsey pushing Calla away

Exhibit B: Calla pushing back

Exhibit C: we give up

Well, Calla and I stayed at the pool for another hour. Some friends came so we sat in the sand and talked. Then we went home and ate another dinner and had a popsicle and read some books and went to bed!

She just interrupted this blog post by waking up to inform me she needed a glass of orange juice. Who wants orange juice in the middle of the night? Yuck. She also told me a dog was in her room. Nope. We don't have a dog.

Better go tend to her!

Goodnight!
