Packing & Cleaning

Below: Calla watching YouTube while sitting on the potty

TODAY the weather was icky, but it was good motivation to stay home and clean and pack! Aunt Corinne had her hands full entertaining Calla all day. She started by taking her on a shopping trip this morning to get some things to keep her occupied on the plane! We'll see how well the fruit snacks, crayons and stickers give us. I am feeling optimistic!
This evening, Aunt Rin and Calla headed to Jonathan's softball game. Calla was very busy watching the game, playing with a friend Cade, and hanging out at the nearby park.
I am keeping this short because I have to continue packing!
Calla Anecdote: Out shopping, Corinne and Calla thought it would be funny to switch purses. When Corinne gave Calla her purse, Calla said, "Aunt Cal-Cal's purse." We thought it was funny she referred to herself as "aunt."
New sentence of the day: When I was putting Calla down for her nap, Calla could hear Kelsey crying upstairs (with Corinne) and said, "Kelsey cry. Kelsey need Mommy's num-num." :)

Kelsey Goes to the Zoo

Above: A photo of Calla from yesterday

TODAY the weather was too cool for the pool, but perfect for a trip to a nearby zoo. I use the term "zoo" loosely when talking about this particular zoo, since it consists of farm animals only. Kelsey fell asleep in the Baby Bjorn, and Corinne kindly pushed the stroller while Calla walked next to it and held on. We wish we would have more of Calla's reaction of the animals, but her pacifier was hindering her communication!

After the zoo, we went to a nearby sandwich place called "Bells & Whistles." There is a play area there, so Calla was very occupied while Corinne and I enjoyed our lunch! That is, until Kelsey woke up wanting her lunch!

After we went home and took naps, we headed out again to the outlets! I needed to return a pair of shorts that I optimistically thought I would fit in (I need a size up for the immediate future) and wanted to look for a dress for Kelsey and shoes for Calla for aunt Kelly's wedding. The shopping trip was short (only about 2 hours) but successful...Calla behaved for the most part and Kelsey did wonderful by sleeping for the first hour and a half.

Thanks, Mimi, for our dinner...we ate the lasagna you put in the freezer a couple weeks ago.

New word of the day: "tweet" (Calla was pretending to be a bird...aunt Rin came up with this game and kept telling her "birds don't have pacifiers" so Calla always put her paci down when she was a "bird")

Busy Day

Above: Calla on our walk tonight. A special thanks to my second photographer, Aunt Rin, for most of the pics.

TODAY Calla woke up without a fever but we decided to keep her with us at church just in case. She sat with us during the worship time, and then Corinne and I moved the girls to the "crying room" to listen to the sermon. Calla seemed pleased to be in there. She didn't seem to notice she was the oldest child in there by months...certainly the only one walking.

After the service ended, Calla took Aunt Rin to see her nursery room and meet some of her little friends. :)

We had a quick lunch, then headed to the pool. The weather was perfect for Kelsey...low 80s with a nice breeze going. She slept soundly the whole time we were there (about 2 hours). Calla got to enjoy some two-on-one attention from Aunt Rin and Mommy while Daddy kept guard over Kelsey (hiding under a towel in the infant seat). Calla played on the steps in the baby pool, spent some time in the fountains, Aunt Rin even had her in the water up to her neck!

Once Calla seemed tired, we decided to head home. She went down for a nap pretty quickly, and it didn't last long. Sooo, since Kelsey had woken up and fallen back to sleep in the meantime, we decided to head back to the pool for another hour and a half. Aunt Rin spent some time holding Calla on a bridge that is situated over the water slides...so Jonathan would go down the slides, and Rin and Calla would wave and call out to him. She got a big kick out of it!

By the time we got home, it was dinnertime so I heated up some baked mostaccoili I had made before Kelsey was born and stored in the freezer. To walk off some of the dinner, Rin and I headed for a long walk to the park. Rin pushed Calla in the stroller and Kelsey slept in the baby bjorn.

Kelsey's becoming more predictable as we get to know her better. :) It takes some more effort to get her to sleep...her favorite method is to be walked around but I'm trying not to do that too often! Walk around with her on your shoulder and she's out like a light.

Calla's New Sentence of the Day: My name Cal-Cal. (She said this to a girl at the park.)
